DANEJA MENTALE "THE RECLUSE: MUSIC FROM THE VAULTS"

Now before you jump the gun... "Listen Closely Vol. 1 & 2" ARE the LAST albums! This is a collection of outtakes and bonus tracks from the "Vol. 1: Rhymes & Beats", "Vol. 2: The Art of Expression" sessions. Also added are tracks from the "Dark Waters" and "Home Is Where The Hate Is" sessions. The Recluse..." is an E.P. that is to be released before the arrival of "Vol. 2". Along with "Vol. 1", this collection will finally end the series with a bang. It has been said by Daneja, that he will not record any more albums. There are many reasons in the air, but many of his peers say it's just rumors. Though he said that will continue to record and do guest apperences... we will see in the near future. Will he stand by his word or will he follow the footsteps of Scarface, Jay-Z, and Too $hort and make a comeback? We shall see.

DANEJA MENTALE - AND THEY CALL IT AMERICA [INTERNET SINGLE]

"...And They Call It America" is a fiery two-verse track focusing on police brutality. Daneja Mentale recorded the song 2 days after 3 NYPD officers were found not guilty for the killing of New York resident Sean Bell. The verses also point out references to the 2003 killing of motorist Kenneth Walker on highway I-85 in Columbus, Georgia by a deputy sheriff.
TRACKS:
  1. AND THEY CALL IT AMERICA (Radio)
  2. AND THEY CALL IT AMERICA (Expilcit)
  3. AND THEY CALL IT AMERICA (Instrumental)

DANEJA MENTALE "DARK WATERS"

"Dark Waters", Daneja's double CD contained the hits: "Real Hip-Hop", "The Reason", the controversial "Who's The Enemy?", and the hilarious "Me & My Dick". Produced entirely by Daneja, this album focuses on the personal life and social issues. Guest include: D.G., Syko-Rah, Heavyweight and Big Dog of Xplicit Kontent, Sparqklipz, Mike Pence of Burn The Innocent and D-Boi of UPT. This album followed after 2003's "Truth & Consequences" and created a much better for Daneja. Though some complained that it was too long of an album; entertaining, they also agreed. Some fans were shocked about some of its' content due to the lyrics of "Depression" with its' horrific ending and "False Prophet". Some said that "False Prophet" put them in the mind of Willie D's (of the Geto Boys) 1994 hit "Guess My Religion". However, Daneja has a disclaimer in the song to assure critics that he's only attacking false prophecy, not Christianity.

J. BROWN "HEAVEN AND A GUN"

RE - UP

The debut release from new Def For Life artist J. Brown is a certified classic! The album features production from Daneja Mentale, Alexis Carrington, Fatal J, Rick Flare aka Nailz, B. Freezy, and Stone B. The twenty-something emcee started in the game working with Chan Willams of Psylent Entertainment 5 years prior to joining the Soul Mafia Family tree to record this promising debut. Often referred to as a young Jay-Z, Brown takes on topics of life, love, pain and music throughout the 17-track project. The original artwork is an eye-catcher as well as the music is an ear-grabber. The cover displays an angel inside of a cathedral, brandishing a pistol. However, violence plays no part in the lyrics. No h*es or b*tches here (except for Daneja Mentale's referral to Bill O'Riely "but O'Riely you ain't that smart you'll never figure us out you racist b*tch"). Still, that's good news, especially for Hip-Hop during the post-Don Imus era. Trust me, the album is that good. The highlights of this album are "Me", the Rick Flare-produced "Down", the title track, the Carrington-produced "The Feel" and "Focus" which features Daneja Mentale on the outro verse.

Tracks:

  1. INTRO
  2. FOCUS (feat. Daneja Mentale)
  3. ME
  4. MOTIVATIONAL MUZIK (feat. Daneja Mentale)
  5. SOUNDS OF MY LIFE
  6. LIMITATIONS
  7. NOT ABOUT... (feat. JFK & Stone B.)
  8. SYMPTOMS (feat. Mike Stiggs & Pariah)

SWIFT "METAMORPHOSIS"

"Change is good" a wise man once told me. Koalishun's Swift must have heard the same advice. After working and rhyming with KD LMR and his groups Southern Lowlifes and Lost Cause, Swift decided to branch out on his own. "Metamorphosis" is a great departure from Swift's former sound. His lyrics sans the profanity, but still entertains without it (notice the "fake" parental advisory sticker). Some of the production is very dark despite the positive messages, which at first makes it sound odd. However it's tracks like "Not a Day", "Which Way" and "For Life" that make the album enjoyable. But don't let the God-praising lyrics catch you off guard, for Swift still serves wack rappers on "Lyrics" and "Nobody Touch The Mic" which features his wife Tasha Medlock on the chorus.

Tracks:
  1. INTRO
  2. NOT A DAY
  3. ALL OF ME
  4. SHAKE IT OFF
  5. GREEN PAPER
  6. THROUGH MUSIC (skit)
  7. WHICH WAY
  8. FOR LIFE
  9. MIND DRIFT
  10. LYRICS
  11. YEAH
  12. LONG TIME COMING
  13. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?
  14. ME & U (feat. Tasha)
  15. WHAT U THOUGHT
  16. NOBODY TOUCH THE MIC (feat. Tasha)
