The Quad Control Station (originally The Place of Bass) was created by Daneja Mentale in 1992. The first string of albums by Q.C.S. include: "The Place of Bass" (1992), "Bass Xpo 94" (1994... Duh!), "The Black Bass EP" (1995), and "The Red Bass Tape" (1996). After a five year hiatus, The Place of Bass re-surfaced as Quad Control Station with "Bass Xpo 2001". Recorded in 2000 in just 14 days, "Bass Xpo 2001" became one of the most popular releases on Def For Life Records. This was also Q.C.S' first release on CD. The album contained the hit tracks: "Breakdown", Suburban Disturbance", Sorry (Busy Lines)", "Cool Water", and the hard-hitting "Soul Mafia Bass" This album also marks the label's first release into the Electronica genre.
